The coastal getaway of South Shields is ideally located between the cities of Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland. You can experience the natural beauty of South Tyneside's magnificent Natural Trust's twisting cliff tops and gorgeous award winning sandy beaches, visit a multitude of popular local attractions or take in all the fun of the fair in a traditional seaside resort. Here you'll find an abundance of wildlife, hidden coves, cycleways and a pioneering lighthouse. Also home to a Roman Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage site,) and near to Bede's World museum. Breathtaking scenery for walkers, cyclists, great for birdwatchers, ideal for various water sports and divers, outdoor sports including golf and bowls, horse riding, and of course South Shields is the setting for the finish line of the famous Great North Run (the flat is only a 10 minute walk from the finish line and a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro station.)This comfortable, well proportioned ground floor flat offers a generous feel and excellent value. Very well located it is only a 5-10 minute walk to the sea front, or a 5 minute walk to Westoe Village - a historic peaceful oasis in the heart of South Shields which has links with several famous people. It was well known to Catherine Cookson during her youth and the setting for several of the books. Many of the North East's major attractions are only a short drive or Metro ride away (nearest station is a 10 minute walk from the flat.) This ground floor flat is a traditionally built Tyneside flat which forms part of a terrace of similar properties. As such there are neighbours on each side, above and opposite. We therefore cannot guarantee peace and quiet at all times as is the nature of flatsapartments! We accept a well behaved dog subject to a refundable pet deposit of £25.00 (please note we don't permit pets on soft furnishings or to be left unattended in rooms with soft furnishings.)The beautiful coastline is steeped in smuggling stories and legends and with its clean beaches, historic sites, and bird sanctuaries, there is something for all the family.You will soon discover that South Tyneside really has something for everyone - the glorious North Eastern coast will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. With an excellent network of transport links South Tyneside is easy to reach by air, rail, sea, car and public transport.Newcastle's international airport is just 15 miles away and has a fast, efficient Metro rail service which can take you from within the terminal right into the heart of Hebburn, Jarrow and South Shields.Newcastle's Central Station is on the main East Coast railway line between London and Edinburgh and there are regular services from the Midlands and the West.The A1 (M), A19 (via the Tyne Tunnel) and A194 major trunk roads lead into South Tyneside where they link up with a modern network of dual carriageways that give access to all parts. There is a variety of short and long stay parking areas and parking for people with disabilities.The Metro system opens up the whole of Tyne and Wear and now extends to Sunderland. Within the Borough there is an abundance of reasonably priced taxis and excellent bus services.
